Ok so you're finally ready to be a bigger part of the FF community and you're ready for Fling Finders Web Chat Room,

Well First there are a few things you should consider and remember first. This also Applies for the older regular members

1, Try to Be Polite At All Times

2, Don't Forget To Chat To Everyone Don't Just Hide In The Corner Private Messaging People.

3, Always Help New People Don't Leave Them Hanging or Get Angry If they get something wrong point them in the right direction

4, You Are Not God

5, Have Fun Use The Rooms Accordingly

Ok So You Have Read The Above And Taken It Into Consideration Now You Want To Chat But Computers Isn't Really Your Thing And This Is All A Bit Confusing, Well I designed this little walkthrough of the Chat To Help Everyone.

So Open the Fling Finder Website homepage and Click on Chat Rooms

That Will Open Up This Page Now Click On Link To Enter The Chat Room This Will Open A New Window…

Now Smaller Screened and lower resolution Laptops Are Being released like mine And are more common so for Fling Finder Chat It Will Not Fit On the Screen Properly, No Problem Ill Show You What To do to Fix This.

Click In the Highlighted box Up the Top Of the Screen And Press F11 This Will Make the chat room Full Screen Do the Same to exit full screen

Ok we are in and we can see all of the chat now, so what's next Lets Play with the setting and learn some tricks….

First Of All if when you opened the screen you did not get a flash settings Screen then you will need to open it and make sure everything is Correct so you will have no problems.

So right Click your mouse anywhere and click settings

You should get a dialog that looks like this click allow and remember and then check the other settings

When doing the microphone click reduce echo and make sure when you speak that the Bar highlighted in yellow moves after finishing that click close.

Ok time to play with the settings in the chat room click the little Cog wheel up the top right hand side of the screen and ill go though the most commonly asked question about the chat…..

Q: can I hide my webcam so others can't see it

A: Yes you can but why not just get the chat to ask you permission so you can choose who you want to view your cam. Just unclick the allow access to my cam. And you're done…….

How do you do what i did above click the cam you want and the dock pops up then click on the magnifing glass and it will undock the cam and make it big. after that click small again and u can move it anywhere, the blue turns the cam and yellow turns there sound on and off.

Now the rest of the setting are straight forward really just play with them till you are happy with them

Q: How do I whisper and private chat

A: there are two ways to whisper the first is to find the persons name in the list on the right then click whisper or find the persons name in the list on the bottom of the screen and tick the whisper box. Shown in the picture here.

You can also address someone directly by finding there name in the list and unchecking the whisper box then it will send a message that everyone can see but has the persons name in it. As shown in the picture below

Ok as you can see on the page there is an image I have sent as well as some handwriting well ill show you how to do this now

Click the little T on the bottom left of the screen to bring up this dialog

Then choose what you want! you can even upload an image of your computer

So what's next well lets look at someone's profile

Click on there name and then click profile it will give you a small screen like this

Then click this to go to their full profile

Q: How do i Block somone i do not like?

A: one would hope it would not have to come to this but if it does then you need to click on the persons name and click block this member. see red Line In next picture

Q: How to i report somone for Unacceptable Behavior

A: Click there name and then Click Report As illistrated by the blue line on the next Picture

Q: what is considered as Unacceptable Behavior?

A: Acceptable behaviors are pretty much described on the rooms list.
Lobby is for general chat....got to try to keep it clean... although a little innuendo never hurt anyone. Swearing should be kept to a minimum in the lobby also... sure a colorful word here n there is ok - we're all adults after all, but just gott o be respectful....coz some people don't like a lot of swearing, and the lobby is the place for them to chat.
Adult and back room is pretty much anything goes... although naughty webcam stuff should be in adult room only.
Abuse is not tolerated in any room... as in people can't insult anyone under any circumstance - that's bannable immediately

Q: How Do You Tell If the person is not just joking?

A: yeah it can be tricky at times....sometimes context of a conversation can get lost in translation... but sometimes it kind of stands out like a big pair of dogs cods.

Q: Me and this person i met tonight are getting along well how do i add them to a list of my favorite friends?

A: Click on the persons name and click at to buddy list this will then add them to a tab that is illistrated in pink on the picture (not anyone you block will also show on this List)

Q: I only want to have my cam on No microphone how do i do this and put it back if needed

A: Click on the My Webcam on the Bottom right of the screen, and you will see and image of you come up.

Next to the image is a small picture of a webcam and a microphone click these to turn them on and off. as shown in the next picture.

As you can see i have turned mine off and now i do not have a little camera symbo next to my name is now gone

Q: how do i stop somone from looking at my cam people i do not want watching?

A: simply click on the whos watching tab near the bottom right of the screen and click prohibit watching me Sown in red Yellow represents the persons name and green is the persons profile

Troubleshooting

Q: how can i get My camera to work it just wont.

My Question : does the camera work with msn or any other programs if it does then go back to the first steps and see of you have selected you web cam in flash settings (right click settings in FF web chat)

Solution

If your webcam does not work with msn or anything else then here are some things you can try

Windows XP

Go to My computer and check if it is in my computer if it is there should be a little camera at the bottem that u can click on, if not then you need to find out where it is.

1: check the Usb connection It may be that you need to have the webcam pluged in the back ports of the pc. (for anyone that is wondering my This is the insides of my old pc as i do not have a pc anymore as it was shipped to australia so i will update the pictures in a month or so. but your pc should look similar to this pannel on the back of the Tower Box.

2: open up my computer and right click properties after that click on the hardware tab and then device manager. when the device manager window opens up look under imaging devices and you should see somthing like webcam for example mine is called USB 2.0 PC CAMERA so i right click on this. (if you do not have anything in there dont worry i will address you in a few steps so please read on)

so the next step is to right click on it and click properties this should open up a tab like the one in the picture(make a note of your webcam model)(for people without this look at your camera and find the brand and model if posible) . After this you need to then click on driver, this will open up a page that says driver provider and so on, click on uninstall then if it askes you to restart say no.

now open up google.com and type (your webcam model without brackets) then driver download and you may have to search for a while to find the latest drivers if your webcam is a chiese one like mine. after you find your drivers install them and go back to the driver manager window that we had open earlyer, then click on the Scan for hardware changes( for the people who did not have the driver installed you need to plug your webcam into another usb) this should find the cam and start installing it with the new drivers. If this does not work then id be looking at the webcam is Badged wrong or its broken. or as the people who did not have the drivers try another usb

Do not download the chinese drivers for your webcam unless your webcam is chinese then please remeber the name on the packet and search for that camera!

Now for the picture guide as most people probably got lost in my bad englishl lol...

Microphone

Q: No matter what do I can not get my microphone to work?

A1: check the connection on the back of the pc or front wherever your microphone is plugged into is it in properly? Is it in the right one needs to be in microphone not line in LINE IN IS BLUE MIC IS PINK GREEN IS SPEAKERS, also if you are on a laptop still try answer 2 and see what happens you never know u may just have it muted…….

Also if you are wondering why my pc looks weird that because its the insides of one of my old pcs that died..... so im just using it as an example i will upload better pictures once i get home.

A2: Sorry to answer a question with a question but has it ever worked if yes then go to step 2 (if no then Find the drivers for it on the internet by searching for brand and model of your computer and download and install them)

General Solution to Microphone Problems

Right click on the volume tab on the taskbar on the bottom right as illustrated on the pictures and click audio properties

This will open up the audio properties page then first things first check if it is muted or not you never know do you ?

Next click on voice check if there are device names in the device name boxes if yes continue to the next stop (if no go back to download drivers)

Next click on test audio device and then click next this will open up a page and as you speak you should see a green bar move in the yellow highlighted area. If no then change the device in the device tab and run test again.

Then click next after that when you speak it should also play it back to you like and echo if this is all fine and working then your mic should be working just fine close screens and enjoy
