Hank Moody - The Revolutionist

Society totally lacks any confident male role models, and I cannot stress this enough.  This is mainly caused by today's censorship overkill and feminist liberation (Rest assured, I'm not having a spray at females, all I'm saying is it had some unplanned side effects. Read on).  There exists a double standard where men get the rough end of the stick.  Society has over catered for women and the scales have tipped heavily in their favor (Though some will argue this I'm sure).

I've watched a few episodes of Californication now and I truly believe Hank Moody (David Duchovny) may well be the male role model of the century.   Despite the recent controversy surrounding the show, when it comes down to it and you put it in perspective, it is the male counterpart (or black kettle) of Sex & The City and Desperate Housewives, two shows that attracted no complaints or moral inquisition…double standards perhaps?
Sure the guy has a lack of morality in some areas, doesn't have much going for him lifestyle wise, he doesn't have a steady income, smokes, takes drugs, drinks etc, but he also carries the traits of a strong, confident and comfortable, 'alpha' heterosexual male.  He's a good father figure, and despite his 'average' lifestyle and low income he is comfortable with himself and knows his worth, knows what he wants and how to get it, he's a fantastic conversationalist, a fucking funny bastard and knows how to talk to women, talk to them and cherish the connection with them.  By the way, did I mention he's a fictional character?  Anyway, men today lack all of these qualities and can learn a thing or two in this department from Agent Mulder!

Over the past 30+ odd years of Society morally adjusting itself to the standard we see today, men have lost their meaning in life.  Just somewhere along the line, men have become 'betaised' and insufficient to the standard that women expect on levels of sexuality, masculinity and emotionally.  A generation of asexual men exist who are under the impression that their sexuality is bad/sleazy and should be repressed (A social lesson).  This can lead to other avenues to 'vent' the most basic and profound human aspiration, which could explain the 'need' for young males to get drunk and brawl, have an interest in high powered cars etc. (just a theory; won't go into it).   I'm talking about the 'average heterosexual male' that you see in a bar/pub/club who huddles in a big group nursing a pint, commenting on the lack of hot women in the place to justify the fact that he's not going to walk up and say 'Hi' to any of them.  Or if he does strike up the courage to engage in conversation with a 'passable chick' it will only be the tried and tested line from every B-grade chick flick over the past decade, 'Can I buy you a drink?" Because men feel that if they are not rich enough in personality and charm that they can overcome the problem and win her interest by financing her alcohol binge, and by the end of the night, $80 down, she will thank him by getting drunk enough to be whisked into bed.  Where in actual fact, the girl is more likely to accept your generous gratuities and disappear into the toilets with her friends until the coast is clear.  This is reality for my estimate of 95% of blokes out there.  They live in this 'pub culture' where all of its inhabitants are socially retarded and emotionally deficient.

According to Society and the media, the only successful men in the world are either rich, famous, drive fast cars, have huge muscles and good looks (and regularly buy women drinks?) or any combination of the aforementioned, so if you have none of this, what does that leave you with?  There is even a comedy niche where 'dumb dads' are constantly outwitted and bamboozled by their female counterparts, imagine the reactions if we reversed the gender roles to portray a female as intellectually inferior to her husband…I'm quite sure it would not be taken lightly or as comedy.

As far as mainstream literature and guidance goes, there really is just a poof-tenth of useable material available, the pick-up artist community, though hardly mainstream or socially accepted really know their shit and is the primary industry for turning Society's wussy boys into confident attractive men.
Where women have relationship and dating advice on every 2nd page of Cleo, men have magazines like FHM, Ralph and Zoo to feed us completely misguided and invaluable 'advice' on how to get her to give you a blow job at Bathurst while your mates cheer you on.  About as classy as Ron Burgundy.

I've crapped on way too much and probably gone off topic.  Perhaps this is a plot by high ranking feminist to hold the high ground, and ensure guys will always pay for drinks and dinner, and open doors for them without expecting any form of thanks and just generally supplicate to them for the rest of thier lives...not likely, lol.

Basically I think there should be more Hank Moody's in this world and less 'dumb dad' ads teaching aspiring men that the Earth is flat and We are the centre of the Universe and women have the right to walk all over them for the rest of their lives.

Hey Merc, I'm really not misogynistic so don't take me on first impressions! :) I wasn't venting as such, I really just wanted to say Californication is a top show and it spiraled from there, lol. Its the way it is for most guys, they have no clue how to treat and interact with women which is probably why so many women feel misunderstood by their partners; are frustrated with their love lives and 'hate men'.
P.S Thanks for the comments

Did you have a bad day, did some nasty woman harrass you at work.......? Inequality is rife in many aspects of life...work (hmmm is it my ignorance or is it still a well known fact that men still earn far more than women) homelife (even though women are expected to work as well as be good mothers and housekeepers, of which apparently we still hold the upper hand)ok ok look I could go on but basically I canīt be bothered.....the over the top femminists have made the barriers between men and women worse I believe, but the whole purpose of the movement was to bring us to equality and yes i also believe it has gone overboard but hey humans are still trying to make the world a peaceful place for all by using WAR as a fixer-upper, go figure.
Thanks for the read, plus just to let you know the magazines for women do far more damage than good soo I think we are definitely equal in that area:)
