He didn't dance around
my motherly breasts,
but he caressed them just as though
they weren't missing that perkiness
that once encircled my nipples...
Traces of his lips he left
along the walls of my thighs,
kisses smothering stretchmarks
that surface my hips and stomach,
these things that once bore children...
Tenderly he rubbed,
his hand-prints almost visable
from the massage he gave my belly,
he didn't mind the pudginess,
the after-effect of my offspring...
Strokes of affection were constant,
his fingers ran all over my body,
he embraced my wisdom
never once mentioning
the older woman I'd become.
