Favourite Phone apps !

Updated 26 Nov, 11 - 9 Comments.

I thought i'd post a blog for people to share their favourite apps. There's so many apps out there now, and it's good to get tips from people who have discovered some good ones.
Here's a few that i've found to be great.

1) Find My iPhone. (iPhone only)
This app is incredibly handy, its like a GPS tracker on your phone, so if you lose it, you can login to your computer and locate it. You can also send a message from your computer to your phone, which is handy if you think it's been stolen! You can also lock the phone from your computer, and if you have sensetive information on it, you can even wipe the data from it. I have this app on both mine, and my partners iPhones. I'll give you an example of how handy it is - my partner was lost in Sydney, and rang me.... so i logged into the "find my iphone" website and i could see exactly where she was on the app.... so i told her, "go straight ahead, take the second left turn, then take the first right, then follow that road all the way and you'll be fine" How handy is that !?! It's also handy if you have kids with iPhones, install this app on their phone (provided they dont have their own appstore account) and you can see when they are somewhere they are not supposed to be :) (note: this will only work if they use your appstore account on their phone, or you have their login details if purchased from their own account)

2) Star Walk.
If you're into astrology, this is super neat, hell, i'm not into astrology and i still reckon its awsome ! You point it at the sky and it shows you what constellations you're looking at. You don't even have to point it at the sky, if you point it at your feet, it will show you what you'd be looking at if you could pass through the earth and look up from the other side - if that makes sense.

3) 5-0 Police Radio
It's a police radio scanner, you can listen into the cops !

4) RMaker
Create your own ringtones, has a youtube instructional video on how to use it. Pretty simple!

5) Plants Vs. Zombies
Best game app ever !

6) Angry Birds
Everyone has heard of it, and in my opinion the second best game app.

7) Contre Jour
Really neat game, cool graphics and sound effects.

8) IMDB Trivia
Movie trivia, for those that love their movies.

9) iTorch4
Only works with an iPhone 4, but it turns your phone into a torch! It even has an SoS setting, and a strobelight !

10) Walkmeter
Uses GPS to plot your walk route. Just start it when you leave, and stop it when you get back. It will show your route on the map, and tell you your average speed, how many calories you burnt, distance, time etc.

11) Camwow

Its a camera app that has all sorts of weird and wonderful effects, simple to use!

Free version puts a CamWow icon on the photo's, like so:

and for about a dollar, you can have the full version without the icon, like so:

Ok, your turn....anyone got some gems they'd like to share?

A lot of people say the Androids are better than iPhone... I'd have to see it to believe it though, coz iPhones rock !
I've been thinking about getting a prepaid Telstra account, coz optus 3G around here is woefull and to be honest i am more dependant on data coverage than actual phone call rates. Telstra definately have better data, i've just got to find a way to work it into my budget, and get a reasonable android phone to use it with
    :-l

Yeah i'm not a gamer either, i have a games room set up for the kids with Xbox live and Playstation and PC's and all the goodies, but i really cant be bothered with it. These little iphone puzzle type games are tons of fun when you are in a doctors waiting room, or waiting for a bus, or on a flight, or taking a crap.... hehe.

Ood, i'm sure when FF mobile is released it will become one of my faves :)
Wenchling, CJ is really neat huh? the graphics seem so simple, but they're so cool...and the sound is pretty awsome too :)
Ddiva, no probs re: Find My iPhone, it's a very handy app and anyone who has an iPhone should have it.

Another fun puzzle game is Words With Friends. It's kinda like scrabble that you can play at your leisure... you make a move when you have time, then your friend has their move when they have time...and so on an so forth.... this allows you to have several games going at once if you wish.

Yeah, i played cut the rope...it's neat but got kinda bored with it fairly quick.... CJ is a little more advanced, i think... but Cut The Rope is definately one of the more popular games for sure.

You have a lot of mine there. Star Walk, Plants vs Zombies, iTorch. Probably my favourite (funnily enough) is called Fling. Not a dating site, but a puzzle game.

Also FlightControl, Fieldrunners (awesome), Moron Test is fun. Guitar Toolkit, Ocarina to wow the kiddies. SpaceMonkey. Fragger is good, but short. Labyrinth is a classic. iPint for laughs. TouchPhysics & Tiki Towers for some lateral thinking. Air Video is mind-blowing (to me, at least). The nab app is great. Fav travel apps are AroundMe (found the coolest little dive in LA with that) & Urban Spoon.

Dual Level is handy (forgot I had that and just bought a real bubble level). iChalky, iFog, Koi Pond. Footy Live, Pocket Weather.

Reading: BBC News, AP Mobile, Cyanide & Happiness, Pressreader, Instapaper. I use a Kindle to read books.

A FlingFinder app would be cool if I could get it past the Apple censors. I have a couple of thoughts there (and just had another!). FF Mobile will be close, though.
