Favourite TV shows?

Updated 08 Sep, 15 - 18 Comments.

I love watching TV series. There's so many amazing shows out there these days, it's difficult to narrow down favourites, but here's my top ten (Pretty much in order of preference).

1) Justified

2) Breaking Bad

3) Deadwood

4) Game Of Thrones

5) The Wire

6) Sherlock

7) Wentworth

8) Suits

9) Vikings

10) The Walking Dead.

Others that definitely rate a mention, but are a bit too young to be included in the top ten are Fargo - season 1 was absolute perfection, True Detective, although Season 2 was not as good as season 1. Daredevil and Gotham first seasons were great also. There's a bunch of UK shows that i've really loved too, Luther, Wire In The Blood and Wallander being the best of them.

Your turn now, What are your favourites?

I've watched every episode of Strike Back, and while i kind of enjoyed it for it's action, it was a bit too over the top for me to consider it great. Too many bad guys wo can't shoot straight, too many good guys who can shoot with pinpoint accuracy in most situations, but miss their mark when aiming for the big boss.... etc etc. Small things, but enough to keep it and others like it out of my top lists. The Blacklist is another, it's so far fetched and ridiculous, but i keep watching it because of James Spader.

Most recent that I enjoyed...True Detective with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Quite liked Penny Dreadful too. There are too many really.

not a fan of downloading, but will happily stream shows that I only want to see the once.

Buffy would be my first love, & you could add all other Whedonverse stuff into that same one

Then, of course, Dr Who, Torchwood, Sherlock, misfits etc. The UK come up with some ripper stuff.

Breaking Bad was fantastic. (naughty download, naughty!)

but then along came netflix.. Orphan Black, sens8, lots of new stuff there - so finally catching up on the ten million Supernatural series (can't believe, but happily so, that its still going)

BUT (last one) i love Iview! yay for shows like Upper middle class began, & Utopia. they ROCK :)

Buffy's a given :) Are you watching US Netflix? HEAPS more shows. Every season of Buffy, Angel, all the old good stuff. I think it's even legal. https://www.unblock-us.com - $5 a month.

sense8 got amazing toward the end. I think I might have teared up during that opera/birth montage. Still, I can never forgive them for the Australian character. Just such deliberate, mean-spirited mockery. "I don't have Aspergers, I'm fuckin' Austraaaaaalian!". (Says something totally inappropriate) "Sorry - Austraaaalian". Jesus. It wasn’t just a bad attempt at our accent - it was sneering and intentional. May as well have been Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Some people download TV shows to watch when they have time. That way, you don't have to be infront of the TV at a certain time to catch your favourite show. Not that i'd promote piracy. There's also people who buy boxed DVD sets. The good shows are worth buying.
Streaming sites such as Netflix will become more and more popular, and more and more content will be available. So far it's cheap to stream, lets hope it remains that way once they get more decent content.

I like Orange Is The New Black, but to me it's a massive rip off of Wentworth. I rate Wentworth much higher.
I love Doccos too, and some reality shows like Deadliest Catch are a guitly pleasure.

Good list. Still haven't got around to The Wire, and I must be the only person on the planet not watching The Walking Dead. Others worth a watch: The Knick, Orphan Black, Better Call Saul, Rectify, Mr Robot, Community, Bob's Burgers.

Loved True Detective season 1 but season 2 was hilarously bad.

Nope, I don't watch The Walking Dead either... but I don't watch many of the others either. I have been meaning to watch The Knick, but it's not on Netflix as yet.

I can understand how some people wouldn't like The Walking Dead - It's a show about Zombies after all. I'm not a horror fan, but this really isn't horror, it's more about the fight for survival, and the pushing of moral boundries. It has a few "yeah right, as if" moments, but again, it's a Zombie show, gotta be a little bit forgiving of imperfections :)
