Punctuation changes context - use it !

Updated 16 Dec, 10 - 2 Comments.

Just remember, when conversing in text form, use punctuation.

I'm no grammar nazi, but it really can change the whole context of what you are trying to say.

Here's a few examples, please feel free to add some more. Bold = bad.

Lets eat, Grandpa.

Lets eat Grandpa!

I helped my uncle Jack, off a horse.

I helped my uncle jack off a horse.

A Wombat eats roots and leaves.

A wombat eats, roots and leaves.

Captain: We're under heavy fire. Can you send backup? Should we retreat?

General: No, help is coming. or General: No help is coming.

And don't forget those question marks. A simple ? can change your message from inquisitive to arrogance.

let me view your cam = a demand

Let me view your cam? = a request. Of course, manners wouldn't go astray in this situation either.

I'll add more when i think of them.

Ooooooh yay! Pet hate of mine. Oh how important gramma, capitalisation, and sentence structure can be...Sometimes it is such an effort to try to translate people's messages in to English...
Doesn't bother me toooooo much as I always choose to translate a rude message into a kind one that has just been worded wrongly..hehe...but I've seen lots of people getting tetchy at each other over misread words...grammar helps.
