Some smooth tunes.....
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to post this blog as a bit of a test, firstly to see if it actully works, or whether you need a myspace account to access it . Secondly to give my cousin a bit of a plug, and some feedback of course.
Ok, what its about.... My cousin is an up and coming Musician, at least he'd like to be...LOL. He's been playing music pretty much all his life... well strumming guitars mostly....even played in a couple of bands as lead guitarist - but for one reason or another the bands split up... mostly because other band members were happy just playing small pubs and parties. Simon decided he wanted to try to make a career from music, so he quit his job as a pitboss in melbournes crown casino and went to music school to learn to sing, and to learn a bit more about writing his own music.
Anyway, to cut a long story short he finished music school about 3 years ago, and has been writing music and performing a few solo gigs here n there.... even did a tour of Europe with the buskers festival, which is apparently pretty huge over there. He's trying to get his name out there... but he needs a bit of a shove i think, coz i reckon he's got the talent, he just needs a bit more confidence, which would give him more motivation to get off his arse and go talking to record companies etc.... he's got a demo CD made, but its not much good sitting on his desk, right?

Brunswick Heads, NSW, AUspanks Rach, i'll pass that on.... one thing though, whatdya mean "well priced" ? ... i dont understand record company deals but i thought they pay the artist for their talent which the record company can make money from record sales.... and the artist also gets a slice of that pie too?

I do enjoy a good haggle, and i do enjoy telling shrewd operators where to go if they are unreasonable... i'd certainly give him a hand if he needs it.. would love to actually. He's just got the get off his arse tho and get himself ready to be booked. He's a stubborn bastard - he has about a dozen songs completed - enough for a CD but not enough to perform live, and he refuses to do too many covers.. he does Roxanne by the police, and he does a brilliant cover of an old U2 song called "running to stand still"... which i am yet to hear a recording of - despite my nagging.... have heard him perform it live though (he plays short 1hr sets supporting others). You're right, i need to get him more motivated, need to push him... if his creative juices are in a rut then i could always suggest some more obscure covers that suit his style for him to put his own spin on. The couple of covers he does do don't sound much like the originals.... he makes them his own sound - so its very doable and would certainly be enjoyable to witness - kinda like Bobby Flynn - that fuzzy haired dude that twisted songs around on Aussie idol.... pretty much the only time i've ever watched idol was when he was on.
