So here it is, the all-new FlingFinder :) I’m writing this about 5 minutes after launch, and so far, so good! A few issues with user images coming across, and server load, but we're onto it. We’ve tested and tested but there’s bound to be a few bugs and typos lurking around so if you find any, please let me know.

First things first - the photo contest didn’t make the cut (for now). It would have delayed launch even further and (let’s face it) we haven’t had many entries lately so I decided to shelve it for a while. I appreciate that the photo contest is part of what makes FlingFinder a real community, so rest assured that it if FF 3.0 is a success, the contest will be back.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new and improved with FF:

Optimised for Mobile, Tablet and Desktop

The new FF is a responsive design, meaning it automatically adjusts to suit whatever device you’re on.

Streamlined Registration

It’s now much faster and easier for new members to join FlingFinder. I think this, combined with mobile-friendly, will translate into a lot more new users right out of the gate.

Instant Messaging

One of my favourite new features! I’ll send you all a message in a minute so you can try it out and say hi.

New Flirt System

Flirts have been pretty useless in the past so I’ve completed overhauled them to hopefully make them more fun and useful. They also have their own inbox, separate from messages.

I suspect the new system might be a bit confusing at first, but once you’ve sent and received a couple it should be pretty clear.

One cool thing about flirts - even if you select “Not interested” you can optionally include constructive feedback to help them understand why. “No face pic” or “Your profile tells me nothing about you”, for example. Hopefully this will encourage people to up their game.

I’ve also made it mandatory to have a G-rated photo in your main album before you can send flirts. Most members consider flirts without photos to be totally useless and annoying, and I agree.

Sexy New Profile Design

Big, beautiful photos and a slick photo browser that let’s you swipe, pinch, zoom… all that good stuff.

Message Premium Members for Free

We’ve always let trial members reply to messages from paid members, but now they can initiate contact - make the first move. I think this will be a huge benefit to both trial and premium members. Trial members will be less frustrated because they can do more than send flirts, and premium members should get a big boost in messages without having to do all the work!

Blogs

Blogs are pretty basic atm but I plan to bring in stuff like trending posts at some stage. One current change I think is kind of cool is that we now highlight comments posted since you last viewed the page, so you can quickly scan to read comments you haven’t seen before.

Secure Server

Always a good thing.
